8A- Solving the Problem

Instead of a product, I want to create a service where people who frequently consume drugs are offered a safe place to test their drugs at music festivals. Because people are going to consume the drugs anyway, why not set up stands at music festivals with attendants testing the drugs of festival-goers? The policy would be that there would be no reports from any attendants and if a drug were to be deemed “safe” then it would be given back, and if not, then the drug would be discarded by the attendant. No law enforcement would be involved, and this would ensure the safety of the festival-goers. This service would be extended to all music festivals across the nation, and event planners would definitely buy into this service to improve their reputation and ensure the safety of its people.

  1. I have never thought of this, and I agree that it is a great idea. However, it seems like it would be rather hard to implement in a formal and organized manner. There could be some sort of group that does this sort of in a volunteer manner, but if there was an official organization or something that did this then it would appear that they support the use of drugs that are typically very dangerous. Good idea though and I agree that it would be very beneficial to festival goers if this could be made possible.

  2. I have thought of this before. Whenever I have been at a concert or some sort of festival I sometimes have seen stands that have samples of beers but you have to consume them within their stand, so why not have these for drugs. As you said people are going to do them anyways we mine as well make it safe to do so. Great post.

  3. There is an opportunity here but it sounds a bit shady. Having a place where drugs are going in and out of without any consequence sounds illegal. Maybe this would work with certain kinds of drugs that would be alright but other than that I don't know if this solution will work.

  4. Hi Duc,
I think that this is an interesting solution that I have not thought of in the past. I think the people going to festivals would definitely benefit from having access to a service in which they could test their drugs and ensure their safety. However, if it was an organized service, I think it would be hard to keep law enforcement from being involved.

  5. This is a pretty cool idea I think its quite impressive. I do wonder how it would work throughout the states though as drug laws are different throughout rather than universal so the government would have to be on board with this service in addition to it being on a state by state basis. Its a really cool idea but there are a lot of factors you need to evaluate fist and obstacles to face.

  6. I believe this service would be very beneficial because most people don't ask for help if they are tripping out or feeling bad because of the drug they consumed due to the fact that there are lots of policeman around and they don't want to get arrested. However, if they ensure that you wouldn't get arrested and instead recieve vitamins and supplements to make you feel better and monitor what drug you are on, the customers would way more open to that and would feel more safe consuming the drug and receiving help if in trouble.

  7. I think that this service would be difficult to make work. I don't know whether or not having this business would even be legal, given that you know that your customers possess and are consuming federally illegal drugs. Also if people take drugs at a music festival, is the first thing they will be concerned about their safety? Would they even want to use this service? I like the hypothesis, but the solution is definitely difficult.
