1) What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course? I have developed a keen eye to be constantly be aware of my surroundings and look for opportunities in the area. I also have developed my ability to keep up with the various assignments with time management. Last but not least, I have been able to talk to people more freely when I interview them.
2) Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this? I almost gave up when I saw that I did not really like to interview random people. It felt like cold calling at times, but I pulled through because I needed the grade, but it felt fulfilling because I actually felt like I learned how to interact with strangers more.
3) What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ? I would tell the students to step out of their comfort zone and think about things in everyday life that they have not thought about and also be open to talk to strangers. Sometimes, some people will reject being interviewed, but if you keep trying someone will end up wanting to express their thoughts. Lastly, if you get caught up on life sometimes and miss an assignment, don't sweat it!

Hey Duc,
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I can appreciate most about this class is the way that it opens our eyes to the world around us. I have to agree with you that my awareness has changed since this class started, and in the best way. It is extremely empowering to be able to think like a consumer AND an entrepreneur. Similarly, I agree that all students should strive and stay out of their comfort zone. It seems as though all of the best inventions, experiences, and moments come from right outside of our comfort zone. Overall great advice!
Hey,
ReplyDeleteI think that being aware of your surroundings is very important in this class because for some of the assignments, you have to be constantly looking for people to interview and receive feedback from for your ideas. I also agree that the first interview process was uncomfortable, and found myself only reaching out to family and close friends at first, but after several interviews it did not seem so bad.
keeping an observant mindset when working in this class is important due to ll the items due on such a consistent basis, it is easy to miss something ! the last bit of advice for new incoming students is spot on, dont be afraid of failure, embrace it!
ReplyDeleteHey Duc!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your reflection overall in this course. I agree, juggling school work assignments can be challenging, but being able to manage those assignments and working ahead is key to successfulness. Moreover, I agree on you last comment in which you would provide to incoming freshman. I know I used to get highly upset if I missed an assignment, but it should not deter you to complete the course at all. Thanks for sharing!

Duc,
ReplyDeleteI thought these were very inspirational if I was coming into this class. Not only did you tell me a little bit about how the assignments work but you also made it feel normal to dislike cold calling or interviewing random people but in the end it is beneficial. I like how you said to keep an open mindset because I feel like that is very important with a class like there were it is very new to me such as the blog posting and the interviewing. Great Job
I agree with many of the points that you have said, especially about the interviewing of people. I feel that a lot of people have a negative predisposition towards interviewers. It is very difficult to take surveys or conduct interviews because of this. I also agree with your tips for the class and think that others will find it very useful when they begin the class.
ReplyDeleteHi Duc,
ReplyDeleteI also developed some of the same time management and opportunity searching skills because of this class. I also think that you have good tips. It’s important to step out of your comfort zone and learn how to do things you don’t want to and that it’s not the end of the world if you miss one assignment in the grand scheme of things.
Hi Duc, I also realized the importance of time management but I like how you were able to enjoy and gain something from your experience that caused your assignments to be more fulfilling, meaningful and successful.
ReplyDeleteDuc,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you thst interviewing five people was not very excited and made me not want to do the assignment. what i did to get through that assignment was call up my close friends because i knew they would have my back for helping me. the quote from Theodore R. really reminds me a lot of myself because it don't have the strength to do some tasks sometimes but i still have to do them.
Nice work Duc,
ReplyDeleteI too hate interviewing people, I don't mind talking to people but like you said it just feels odd interviewing people about our new ideas. Personally I always tried to interview friends or family because I know they'd give me an honest response and because my family and friends are so diverse in their wants and needs.
