1) You. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?

My name is Duc, and I have held numerous executive positions in various organizations on campus. I aspire to be a management consultant in the future or work at something in finance. This business really does not have anything to do with my aspirations, but if it were to succeed, then I see it playing a large role in my life and become my main source of income.

2) What are you offering to customers? The service is offering a safe way to test drugs for customers who attend music festivals. This way, it ensures their safety in the festivals.

3) Who are you offering it to? I am offering to those who attend music festivals. These people tend to have a very liberal mindset in terms of consuming psychedelic drugs and uppers. They also happen to really enjoy electronic dance music and camping at festivals.

4) Why do they care? They care because it is a way to ensure their safety when they consume the drugs. It is to reduce casualties at music festivals.

5) What are your core competencies? I have the personality that can sell products and services. I am very outspoken and have a very large growth mindset. I don’t stop trying to improve myself in anyway that I could.

To be honest, having the mentality and skills of a salesperson could help in all facets of life, especially trying to pitch an idea could help, but most of my offerings don’t really match up with my core competencies. My core competency of growth could help me in other facets of life, but I do not think it is completely useful for my service.

The feedback I got was to deliver the service in a better way to pitch the idea. Using something other than the “imagine this” approach and adapting to the type of service is very useful.

  1. Duc,
Based on your previous work regarding your talents and core competencies, I agree that you have some important characteristics that would help the success of this business. For an idea like this one, you have to be able to convince people (festival goers), that you are on their side and have their best interests in mind. Based on your previous depictions of your character, it seems as though you could do this. Great post

  2. I like this post because you make a good point about how your skills and characteristics will help you in your ventures. Being an agreeable and talkative person will help you communicate to consumers what your service will do for them and why it is important.

  3. Duc,
I thought this post went very well, you have many impressive strengths such as your leadership roles on campus and have had many great opportunities that will help you in the real world. I thought you did a good job with your second napkin statement, you were able to take the criticism from the first one and make this one better with something other than the "imagine this" approach which I thought was a good change. Great job

  4. Hi Duc,
I think that the experience you gained by holding an executive position in various organizations throughout campus will be very helpful when running your business. This has likely taught you skills related to planning and managing people which will be a task you have to do for your business. Good job on including the feedback you received on past assignments into this one.

  5. Hi Duc,
Great job in evaluating key points about yourself and your role on campus. It is helpful that the skills that you acquired through experience allowed you re-evaluate your second idea napkin. Thanks for sharing

  6. Duc,

This service is not very popular but is something that needs to be provided. The problem that your service solves is mainly for people who are inexperienced drugs users and just want to have fun. This inexperienced drugs user will trust a random person with their life for a drug they don't really know what it is. People inexperienced with taking drugs might also take to large of a dose and end up over dosing too. Your service of testing drugs is very important to the safety of people.

  7. Great work Duc,
The service you're offering is a new one yet a needed one. Most entrepreneurship ideas are just more improved services, or more improved products, but your idea is quite original. Which means people will be weary about it at first but I believe with your skills and traits you can help encourage people to use your service and make a healthy profit from it.
